The Basics
Since 1961, Triumph Treatment Services has provided substance abuse treatment to the residents of Yakima, Washington, a large Eastern Washington city 60 miles south of Mount Rainier. Triumph has an array of programs and chemical dependency services, including Casita (a residence for women), James Oldham Treatment Center (a residence for men) and a variety of transitional care homes. Triumph’s Community Drug and Alcohol Center is located a few blocks from the Capitol Theatre and provides outpatient treatment to men and women.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients are placed in either residential treatment or the outpatient track, which is offered at the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) level of care. Most clients complete their IOP treatment plan in eight weeks, during which time they attend group therapy three times a week and have individual therapy at least twice a month.
Groups are led by CDP addiction counselors and use CBT and other evidence-based modalities to address relapse prevention, handling triggers and developing coping skills. A client’s primary counselor may also include attending peer support meetings such as AA/NA a component of their treatment plan.
Triumph has psychologists and MHCs that can address co-occurring disorders. It also has extensive case-management services and can refer clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby psychiatrists and mental health clinics.
Extras
Outpatient treatment is available in Spanish. The Community Drug and Alcohol Center has free childcare on Tuesdays and Thursdays for IOP clients. For aftercare, clients are invited to attend a weekly relapse prevention group after they’ve completed their IOP treatment plan.
