The Basics
Total Rehab Services (TRS) is an outpatient treatment facility in Miami Lakes, Florida that provides holistic care for substance abuse and process addictions. By combining modern medical modalities with ancient medical applications and result-based methods, TRS aims to restore clients’ health in the most natural, non-invasive and non-toxic ways. This approach focuses a great deal on the body and physical aspects of addiction, aiming to cleanse the body of toxins. For complete and long-lasting health, TRS uses an individualized approach, focusing especially on balancing the bioengergic, mental and physical elements of the person. While the program aims to treat six addictions—alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, gambling, sex, pornography, work and internet—substance abuse is a major focus of treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Founded in the summer of 1987 by Dr. Herman Vega, TRS provides services focused on readjusting mental and physical imbalances. Staff work with clients combining traditional treatments like individual and family therapy using evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT and EMDR as well as alternative modalities like acupuncture, binaural beats, vitamins/minerals/amino acid therapy, herbal therapy, nutritional counseling, homeopathy, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. Attendance of 12-step meetings is encouraged, but meetings are not hosted on-site. Dual diagnosis support is available as well as detox—though the facility uses a holistic approach, meaning only alternative medicines are used.
Four levels of treatment are offered, ranging from three months to a year. The most intensive track is the Complete Treatment level, a five-month program that includes the process of detoxing the body, biofeedback, stress management, nutritional counseling, homeopathic and herbal remedies, brainwave synchronization and psychotherapy. The next level down is the Basic Treatment track, a three-month program that incorporates many of the above treatments with the exception of biofeedback and brainwave synchronization. The Cleansing and Psychotherapy track is also a three-month commitment and limited to holistic detox and therapeutic services. The last and least intensive option is the Psychotherapy and DUI track which helps clients facing DUI infractions meet court requirements with individual counseling and drug testing. Clients usually come at least three times a week for about an hour, and with a strict no tolerance policy for substance use, TRS subjects all clients to random drug screenings.
TRS’s professional staff are all bilingual state licensed LMHCs who have extensive expertise in addiction and rehabilitation.
Extras
In addition to psychological and physical treatment, TRS offers conflict resolution, anger management, communication skills, sex education, identity issues, marriage therapy, self-esteem building, stress reduction, goal setting, prenatal and postnatal counseling and parenting skills training and massage therapy.

While offering more traditional treatments for substance abuse, TRS has set itself apart from other outpatient treatment centers by focusing treatment on holistic and alternative methods of recovery. TRS asks clients to commit entirely to cleansing the body of toxins, introducing a healthy diet and taking a regular regimen of alternative and herbal medicines. While their services are not covered by insurance plans, TRS boasts a high success rate, making it a reputable alternative to the average outpatient treatment center.
