LMHC

LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor): A healthcare professional who offers a broad scope of mental heath and wellness care. By combining traditional therapy with problem-solving, they are able to treat a wider range of clients who struggle with co-occurring issues. LMHCs are able to do assessments and give diagnosis, develop and oversee treatment plans, provide alcohol and drug addiction treatment, are trained in psycheducation, prevention and crisis management. LMHCs are considered licensed because they have a master’s degree in counseling (or a related discipline), have completed a minimum of two years of clinical work under the supervision of a licensed or certified mental health professional and have passed a state-developed or national licensure or certification examination.
