The Basics
Pickaway Area Recovery Services (commonly referred to as PARS) has two outpatient facilities: Pickaway Area Recovery Services in Circleville and Fayette Recovery Center in Washington Court House. PARS was founded in 1978 by the Pickaway Community Action Organization and also has four residential treatment facilities. Its mission is to better understand chemical dependency through scientific research, evidence-based treatment and prevention strategies. In addition to residential and outpatient facilities, PARS also offers evidence-based prevention programming, youth education, a driver intervention program and a weekly family support meeting.
Treatment and Staff
PARS offers standard outpatient care and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Standard care clients attend one to two weekly sessions that are three hours long. IOP clients attend up to three weekly three-hour sessions. Treatment is phase-based and length of care are is contingent on the needs of the client. Still, IOP clients are expected to complete at least 36 sessions of treatment and an additional 36 sessions of aftercare.
Both the standard program and the IOP are based on the Matrix Model and implement individual and group therapy. There are 150 active clients who participate in the standard and IOP programs. Clients are expected to attend off-site AA meetings in addition to formalized treatment. PARS doesn’t offer detox or dual diagnosis support, but it does work with outside detox and mental health services. Case management services help with Medicaid, job training and adult education.
There are nine full-time staff members who are certified and licensed to meet Ohio state laws. Supervisors are LADCs and both LCDCs and CDCA case managers work with clients during treatment and aftercare.
Extras
Graduates of the outpatient program receive aftercare, which includes group therapy and relapse prevention.

It implements evidence-based treatment using the Matrix Model and includes CBT, DBT, 12-step recovery and individual and group therapy. The well-qualified staff and extensive therapeutic options make this facility a solid choice for a comprehensive alternative to inpatient treatment.
