The Basics
Pathways Community Health Leesville (PCHL) is a client-driven outpatient treatment program located in the North-Central parish of Vernon, Louisiana. Serving both adults and adolescents from Leesville and the surrounding areas thanks to ample funding from its parent company Compass Health Network, Pathways helps those living in this rural area of the state to access a range of mental and behavioral health care, including drug, alcohol and gambling addiction as well as co-occurring mental health issues.
Treatment and Staff
PCHL offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) with individualized plans geared towards meeting the specific needs and goals of each individual impacted by substance abuse as well as their family members. PCHL implements evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) through group and individual therapy. While treatment is not 12-step oriented, PCHL does encourage clients to attend meetings in their local communities.
PCHL offers dual diagnosis support, but clients are referred out to community mental health providers for mental health treatment. PCHL employs an experienced, certified staff that includes LSACs, all with at least Bachelor’s-level credentials.
Clients are expected to schedule one-on-one sessions at least once month, though once a week is more common. Depending on how many groups they are attending and their progress, clients can request even more individual sessions if needed.
Extras
Groups and individual sessions in PCHL’s adolescent outpatient program are scheduled after school hours and free transportation is provided. Family sessions are scheduled around the parents’ schedules, making it more convenient for them to participate.
Discharge planning is also offered, connecting clients to their communities and any services they might need—including housing, higher education and support groups. The staff works closely with any clients needing help with job applications, budgeting advice and other life skills that set them up for success once they’ve completed treatment.
PCHL has trained staff members who assist new clients in their Medicaid application process or help them find another source of public assistance so they can get the care they need, regardless of their financial situations.
