Avery Lane Review

Avery Lane is a brand new women’s substance abuse rehab that opened in May of 2017. Located in Novato, California, which is in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, Avery Lane specializes in helping women struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Avery Lane was founded by Camille Hildebrand and named for the street where her great-grandmother, Frances Martinez, lived. Hildebrand has dedicated her life to helping other women recover in honor of Martinez. The program at Avery Lane is based on a philosophy Hildebrand calls the “Four-Fold Passage,” the components of which are recovery on biological, psychological, spiritual and social levels.

Accommodations and Food

Avery Lane is a large modern home that is elegantly decorated and spacious. The program only has space for six to eight women at a time, which allows for personal attention and a deep bond between the clients. There are four bedrooms; one is typically private and the other three are shared. The shared rooms are very large and all beds are queen sized. There are three full bathrooms, with marble countertops. Each client gets a dresser and plenty of closet space.

The shared living room and well-stocked kitchen are downstairs, furnished with leather couches, a big screen TV with cable, state-of-the-art appliances and a dining table that seats ten. The kitchen comes with the bonus of a personal chef who prepares all the meals and snacks for the clients, working closely with each individual and a nutritionist to ensure the most healthy and delicious choices.

Treatment and Staff

Clients at Avery Lane receive an initial evaluation that determines whether they need detox and if the program would be a good fit. Women who need detox are referred to a local detox facility and then welcomed to Avery Lane when they are medically stable. In most cases, the complete detox process can be done in less than a week.

The residential program can last anywhere from 30 to 90 days. Personal devices like cell phones and computers are allowed after an initial “blackout” period of 14 days. This time allows for each client to get acclimated to the program schedule and new surroundings. Group and individual sessions incorporate traditional styles of treatment, like CBT, DBT and EMDR but also implement various kinds of exercise and optional 12-step meetings. Step work or journaling are a required part of the daily schedule. Frequent psychoeducation groups and classes cover relapse prevention, coping skills and the disease model of addiction.

On-site staff are available for support and guidance 24/7. The treatment team at Avery Lane consists of Master’s-level case workers, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nutritionists, fitness trainers and trauma specialists.

Extras

Yoga, hypnotherapy or equine therapy are some of the holistic options offered through Avery Lane. A gym membership with access to an on-site personal trainer is also included as part of treatment.

A monthly three-day family program allows family members to attend meetings with clients to learn about addiction and reconnect by going on fun sober outings.

In Summary

Avery Lane offers luxury care for women in an intimate environment. Residents are provided with plenty of structure, but not lacking in comfort. With a beautiful location and comprehensive care, this is an excellent option for women seeking a safe space to begin their recovery.
