The Basics
Based out of Prescott, Arizona, West Yavapai Guidance Clinic (WYGC) is a multi-faceted behavioral health organization founded in 1966. The facility serves more than 7,000 clients a year and includes programs for children, adolescents and adults. In addition to its more intensive residential treatment options, it also offers flexible outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
Treatment and Staff
Detox services are not available on-site though clients get referrals as necessary. The more intensive of the outpatient programs is the IOP track, which meets three nights a week for three hours each session. This plan lasts 16 weeks and consists primarily of group therapy but also includes one weekly individual session. As a step down, there’s a 12-week outpatient program which meets once a week for group therapy and once a month for individual therapy.
While schedules differ, both tracks cover the same ground and feature therapy rooted in evidence-based practices, primarily CBT. Therapists may introduce other methods depending on clients’ needs. Group sessions cover many topics including relapse prevention, addiction education, stress management and coping skills. Treatment is primarily based on 12-step recovery philosophy. Dual diagnosis support is available as well through contracted medical and psychiatric staff, including medication management services.
The staff at WYGC consists of case managers, CSACs, RNs, MFTs, contracted physicians and psychiatrists and additional Master’s-level therapists.
Extras
WYGC offers specific outpatient tracks for court-ordered clients dealing with DUI sentences. Standalone mental health counseling is also available, as is a more intensive residential treatment program for addiction. Finally, adolescents can also attend a juvenile outpatient program specifically for them which meets on Wednesday and addresses age-appropriate topics including peer pressure.
