Elkhorn WisconsinThe Basics

The Walworth County Health and Human Services department is located in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Offering a range of mental health treatment and drug addiction services for residents of Walworth County, the facility reserves their services for residents who have no health coverage or are struggling to make ends meet. All services are outpatient based, but the facility can provide referrals for inpatient treatment, detox services and residential treatment. All clients are given an individualized treatment plan and the appropriate level of care for their needs.

Treatment and Staff

Prior to admission, all clients must come into the facility between 8 am and 4 pm for a bio-psycho-social assessment alongside proof of their Walworth County residence. The assessment determines whether the standard outpatient track or an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is the best fit. The assessment also determines the clients status in terms of housing, vocation and other concerns that may inhibit their ability to attend WCHHS programs. Referrals are given to clients who are homeless or who have jobs that prohibit them from attending day treatment.

WCHHS offers goal-oriented treatment using behavioral modification methods. Clients are motivated towards getting clean and sober through group and individual therapy. Frequency of attendance depends on the program. Standard outpatient meets once or twice per week, while IOP meets between three to five days a week. Each session lasts for one hour and can be scheduled between 9 am and 3 pm. Clients may also be encouraged to attend 12-step meetings to supplement their recovery.

Dual diagnosis support is available through specialized groups and meetings led by a Psychiatrist for medication management. All therapeutic services are provided for by credentialed mental health professionals including LADCs, CSWs and LPCs. Clients are motivated through goal-oriented treatment plans and recovery objectives tailored to each individual’s needs.

Extras

Before entering into treatment, the clinical staff and intake counselors ensure that clients have all of their basic needs in order. If required, a safe and stable place to live and employment are supervised and organized by case managers.

Additional programs include a DUI track and a multiple offender track. Interventions for domestic violence and child abuse are also available for clients and residents of Walworth county. Additionally, there is a crisis phone line that is open 24/7.
