Victory Programs Sober LivingThe Basics

With a number of facilities clustered throughout the Boston metro area, Victory Programs provides affordable, community-oriented treatment services to low-income and homeless men and women. Aside from its residential treatment programs, the organization also offers a number of different sober living homes designed to help clients in recovery.

Accommodations and Amenities

Altogether, the organization has seven different supportive housing facilities, namely the Cedar Family Home, Chamblet Family Home, Portis Famliy Home, ReVision Family Home, Rush House, Serenity Supportive Housing and Victory Housing on Warren Street. Cedar Family Home and Portis Family Home are residential homes for two and eight families respectively; the former is designed for families where the head of household has HIV while the latter is for homeless men and women. Similarly, the Rush House has seven beds for women with HIV/AIDS. The Chamblet and ReVision homes have 14 and 22 beds for women who are pregnant or with young children. Finally, Serenity Supportive Housing and Victory housing have 15 and 14 beds for men and women, respectively.

Though the specifics of each home may vary, each features shared bedrooms with basic decorations, dressers and shared closet space. Each residence also comes with shared living areas with a TV and fully-equipped kitchens. While the staff at the facility can help each client with food stamps, residents prepare their own meals or get communal meals at the organization’s nearby Living Center.

Rules and Regulations

During their stay, all clients are required to remain sober, submit to regular and random drug screenings, complete basic house chores and seek gainful employment. Throughout the program, participants in recovery also attend 12-step meetings. The organization can also provide basic medical support and referrals for HIV/AIDS care. Other services include prevention and educational classes on health-related topics including STI prevention and early intervention for substance abuse.

Extras

In addition to its sober housing, the organization has a mobile prevention team which provides a number of basic treatment services. The staff can offer case management help as well for job placement and medical referrals. The organization also runs an urban farm which provides fresh produce for meals in the community center.

In Summary

Overall, Victory Programs provides a wide range of low-expense housing options for homeless men and women and people in early recovery. Programs offer flexible lengths of stay, 12-step support and case management for a number of health needs. For down and out residents of the Boston metro area, Victory Programs is strong resource worth considering.
