Valley Detox Center for Addiction Review
Valley Detox Center for Addiction opened its doors in the winter of 2016 to provide detox and residential treatment in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Valley Detox occupies a luxurious home in a quiet residential neighborhood. With only six residents in treatment at any one time, its multi-disciplinary team creates highly customized programming and closely monitors each client’s progress. Valley Detox plans to open an additional residence in the coming months.
Accommodations and Food
The Valley Detox residence features high ceilings, a large kitchen with stainless steel appliances and outdoor space for recreation. The residence has six beds and most clients have one roommate. Both men and women reside in the house, which Valley Detox believes facilitates residents’ best behavior.
Each bedroom has a TV and the house has additional common areas with TV, foosball and a ping pong table. A house chef prepares all meals, taking clients’ preferences and dietary restrictions into account. Clients are not permitted to have cell phones or personal computers on the premises.
Treatment and Staff
Valley Detox has three phases to treatment: stabilization, treatment and discharge planning. Stabilization includes medically supervised detox, which can range from three to 10 days. After, clients begin residential treatment, which usually lasts an additional 14 to 21 days. Valley Detox also provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addicts, using Suboxone and Vivitrol.
Residents attend up to six hours of treatment groups each day, including group therapy and psychoeducation classes. They also have individual therapy, usually twice each week. Therapy uses CBT, DBT and EMDR to help clients learn coping skills, process trauma and prevent relapse. In the evenings, clients are transported to peer support meetings such as 12-step, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery or Celebrate Recovery. Throughout treatment, clients also meet with a case manager to discuss their next steps and create an aftercare plan that meets their long-term recovery goals.
Valley Detox is able to provide limited dual diagnosis support and refers detox clients in need of comprehensive treatment for co-occurring disorders to additional facilities for residential treatment.
The treatment team at Valley Detox includes a detox physician, psychologists, CADCs and LVNs. The nursing staff is on-site 24/7.
Extras
Clients have yoga therapy each week and for additional exercise, each day clients are transported to a nearby LA Fitness equipped with a pool and racquetball courts.
