The Basics
With locations in Winter Park, Sanford, Orlando and Kissimmee, Turning Point of Central Florida is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program offering affordable care to clients of all ages. With the belief that addiction is a family disease, Turning Point encourages the involvement of family and loved ones in the recovery process. Specialized care for mental health and co-occurring disorders is also available.
Treatment and Staff
Clients begin treatment by undergoing an initial intake and assessment process. From there, an individualized treatment plan is developed consisting of either a standard outpatient or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which meets three times a week for three hours at a time and includes additional individual therapy. Treatment commences at various intervals between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 9 am and 4:30 pm on Fridays. Evening and weekend appointments are also available on an as-needed basis.
Within the structure of group and individual counseling, treatment relies on a range of evidence-based practices like CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), though specific modalities can vary depending on the client. Psychoeducational groups cover addictive thinking, relapse prevention and Seeking Safety. Clients are also expected to complete the first three of the 12 steps while in treatment and are strongly encouraged to attend off-site meetings as well.
Staff consists of LCSWs, CAPs, LMHCs, MDs and Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Additional services include Spanish-speaking options for all the above-mentioned treatment.
Turning Point also hosts groups for family and loved ones of addicts, including adolescents and children, age six and up. These goal-oriented sessions are designed to address at-risk behaviors, abuse and coping strategies. Anger management classes and standalone mental health counseling services are also available.
Aftercare is offered in the form of therapy at a stepped down rate.
