The Basics
Lisa Cefalu is a clinical psychotherapist, hypnotist and the founder of The Center for Integrated Healing (TCIH) in Sherman Oaks, California. Cefalu uses a combination of traditional treatment approaches, like Somatic Trauma Therapy, in conjunction with holistic methods like Reiki, Brainspotting and spiritual counseling. Treatment is intended to offer alternative options for clients who are dealing with addiction, past traumas, anxiety and depression, aligned with a variety of physical health concerns like cancer and autoimmune diseases to weight issues. Programs at TCIH are for both adults and adolescents.
Treatment and Staff
Cefalu has spent the last five years working at Passages Addiction Center of Malibu, so one of her distinct areas of specialty is in sober life coaching that aims to help her clients find clarity in recovery. Other specific treatments include insomnia, smoking cessation, creative enhancement, anger management, phobias and chronic pain.
A lot of the programming is aimed at clients who are dealing with a past trauma and are having trouble moving forward, and in turn it’s manifesting itself in different forms like sexual dysfunction, depressing the immune system or contributing to an addiction. Somatic Trauma Therapy is utilized in these cases in conjunction with hypnotherapy or bilateral brain tapping to help eliminate feelings of fear associated with the event and help the client face the trauma without feeling helpless.
Other essential parts of treatment, like mindfulness and Reiki, are often integrated into trauma clients’ programming as a way to offset stress and balance out the treatment benefits, while kinesiology and constellation therapy help to delve deeper into the process. In either case, clients go at their own pace and are only offered these treatments by Cefalu if it seems like it would be helpful. Workshops are offered for group and individuals for a majority of these services as well.
Extras
Cefalu offers an aftercare of sorts with listening material—like CDs and MP3s for maintenance.
