The Basics
Sanctuary Centers of Santa Barbara is an outpatient facility that offers evidence-based treatment along with specialized group and individual therapy for clients suffering from addiction and co-occurring disorders. Both the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and the standard outpatient care implement therapeutic approaches like CBT and DBT, along with holistic methods like mindfulness and equine therapy. Treatments plans are individualized and offered in a friendly, supportive environment.
Treatment and Staff
Clients receive an in-depth assessment prior to beginning treatment but many have recently come out of the residential program offered through Sanctuary House. The IOP is three days a week for three hours at a time, and is mainly comprised of group therapy with one individual session a week. The step-down outpatient program is usually once a week in a group setting. These programs are offered for as long as the client feels they need to participate in a supportive network.
There are both co-ed and gender specific groups offered on a flexible schedule throughout the day. They focus on an eclectic mix of topics, including relapse prevention, anger management and identifying triggers. Expressive and holistic options range from music, art, dance and movement therapy to journaling, hiking, nature therapy and poetry. Specialty groups for dual diagnosis clients focus on coping skills, ACT and the Matrix Model. The facility also hosts weekly AA meetings.
The staff includes a multidisciplinary team of clinical and medical professionals, like psychologists, RN, LADCs, equine therapists, recreational therapists and case workers.
Extras
There is a weekly family program as well as vocational training programs and sober living options. Those who graduate from the program are able to receive aftercare by way of weekly check-ins with a staff member for up to three months.
