The Basics
Region Ten Community Services Board’s outpatient substance abuse treatment programs take place in five facilities throughout Virginia, including an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at the newly remodeled Peterson Health Center in Charlottesville. Programs consist of evidence-based treatment through individual and group therapy. The outpatient addiction services are available to both adolescents and adults.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Region Ten aims to help clients learn how to live sober through individualized programming. The IOP is for adults only and requires four days a week of treatment. Programs include daily group sessions and one individual session a week. Treatment approaches include CBT, DBT, Stages of Change, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) along with psychoeducation, relapse prevention and anger management. This facility also offers co-occurring disorder groups and gender-specific counseling.
The adolescent treatment programs are for ages five to 18, offering evaluations, individual therapy and crisis interventions.
Transportation to local AA or NA meetings and medication management is also available.
Region Ten employs close to 600 staff members, including addiction specialists, physicians, nurses and case workers.
Extras
Holistic approaches at Region Ten include acupuncture, nutrition and exercise like Yoga and Tai Chi.
There are specialty programs offered on an outpatient basis for pregnant or postpartum women. All addiction services are offered in Spanish and English.
Region Ten also offers residential treatment at select locations. In addition to the substance abuse programs, there are also transitional housing programs, jail based therapies and groups and diversion education programs.
