The Basics
Rapids Counseling Services is a drug and alcohol recovery facility located in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Founded in 2000, RCS has been offering outpatient care with a focus on individualized treatment and group therapy with the motto “Let’s get through this together.”
Treatment and Staff
Rapids Counseling assesses and evaluates clients to form the best treatment program for the individual. Treatment methods include CBT, rational emotive therapy and Motivational Interviewing (MI) with a focus on 12-step. There are also specialized groups for women as well as a family program. There is no detox available and no medications are administered. Relapse prevention, education classes for DUI/DWI offenders and aftercare are also offered at the center.
The treatment lasts an average of four to six months with two treatment phases. Phase One requires clients to attend a primary group while solidifying individualized treatment programs. Clients must attend therapy sessions and education courses three days a week for a total of nine hours. Phase Two is for those who are prepared to interact in a sober community through group therapy. Clients are required to attend therapy or classes one day a week for two hours.
Rapids Counseling has a fixed schedule for its various treatment paths, with a little flexibility within them. Outpatient clients can attend evening sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm, or day sessions Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to noon. Phase Two is available on Wednesday from 9 to 11 am, or Thursday from 5 to 7 pm.
All counselors are Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LADC) with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
Extras
Clients have the option of continuing therapy in aftercare once completing their Phases. Rapids Counseling Services offers alcohol and drug DUI/DWI education on preventative measures. Women’s groups are available throughout each phase of treatment. Finally, Rapids does not charge clients for an initial consultation, even if they do not end up attending the program.
