The Basics
Professional Consultations, Inc. has been in operation since 1985. With headquarters in the Chicago suburb of West Dundee and several satellite counseling offices throughout the state of Illinois, it offers standard outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). Its individualized treatment works within the structure of group and individual therapy using evidence-based practices as well as relapse prevention strategies and psychoeducation.
Treatment and Staff
Potential client undergoes an assessment to determine placement in either the standard outpatient or IOP. The IOP meets two to three days a week, while the standard track meets just once. Programs tackle the existing behavioral issues of addiction as well as the underlying reasons for chronic abuse.
Treatment uses CBT and DBT, in addition to trauma-informed care and EMDR. Programs can also offer a specilized focus for clients with co-occurring disorders, abuse victims, or clients going through a traumatic life changing event, like divorce or a death of a loved one. Groups address anger management, identifying triggers, developing life skills, stress management and life coaching. Twelve-step recovery is not a part of treatment but clients are welcome to attend outside AA/NA meetings to supplement their programs.
Court-ordered DUI clients attend an education-based program that follows a set amount of hours required to fulfill state requirements, which can range from 10 to 75.
Staff are highly trained and experienced addiction specialists and Master’s- level therapists; including CADCs, LCSWs, LPCs and LDPCs.
Extras
Family and couples counseling services are also available, as well as free counseling for veterans and services offered in Spanish.
