The Basics
Founded in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2000, Primary Care Solutions in a multi-faceted behavioral health organization that provides community-oriented programs for addiction and mental illness. In addition to residential treatment and sober living facilities, it offers outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). While all are welcome to attend, its programs are catered towards adolescent African-Americans from low-income homes. Primary Care Solutions works with many homeless or recently incarcerated clients, so it also offers case management and life skills classes for a smoother transition into society.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, clients go through an initial assessment to help the staff develop individualized treatment plans which consist of individual and group therapy. Primary Care Solutions employs evidence-based practices, such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). For clients with a dual diagnosis, medication management is available as necessary. All clients are required to attend regular off-site 12-step meetings as part of their program. Family therapy may also be integrated into any of the programs.
Staff consists of LPCs, LMHCs, case managers and additional Master’s-level staff.
Extras
Aftercare is offered in the form of continued outpatient treatment at a stepped down rate.
Additional services include employment support programs, foster care referral and treatment for clients with developmental disabilities. Those in need of more intensive care will be referred to Primary Care’s residential or transitional living facilities.
