With five distinct locations in Pinal County, Arizona, including Nogales, Douglas, Coolidge and two in Eloy, Pinal Hispanic Council is a behavioral health services organization that offers substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling on an outpatient basis. Though the majority of clients are court-ordered, it accepts self-referring clients as well.

Treatment and Staff

While detox is not offered at any of the Pinal Hispanic Council locations, clients in need can be referred to an accommodating facility. Its substance abuse program is a standard outpatient track, consisting of two-hour sessions of group therapy, once a week for a total of 16 weeks. Individual sessions can be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

The facility employs evidence-based practices and with special groups that cover domestic violence, anger management and relapse prevention. Added support for clients with a dual diagnosis is available, with groups that address depression, anxiety, grief, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorders, and on-staff nurse practitioner that facilitates medication management. The facility also offers classes that tackle issues related to HIV/AIDS and sexual orientation. Length of treatment is typically 16 weeks.

Staff consists of LADCs with Spanish-language sessions available as well.

Extras

While most clients fulfill their court-ordered treatment requirement in 16 weeks, Pinal Hispanic Council also offers aftercare, which allows all clients to extend their program with ongoing group and individual sessions. It also offers case management and employee-assistance programs and a family program.

Additional services include a Wellness program that offers classes devoted to health and fitness while clients attend in the outpatient program. This includes access to exercise equipment, nutritional counseling classes, a smoking cessation class and other community-oriented activities that emphasize fitness and holistic recovery.

In Summary

While Pinal Hispanic Council’s substance abuse program is designed to meet the specific requirements of a court sentence, all clients can expect a comprehensive and well-rounded program. Its dual diagnosis services, special groups that address a variety of behavioral health issues and its wellness program makes Pinal Hispanic Council a unique and valuable resource for locals.
