The Basics
PAR Rehab Services was established in 1991 in Lansing, Michigan to provide cutting-edge treatment in the fields of neuro-rehabilitation and psychological illnesses. In the years since, the facility expanded, adding a branch in Kalamazoo. PAR offers neuro-psychological and psychological testing and assessment services as well as treatment for brain injuries, chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Social work services are also available for clients who have additional challenges integrating into their community, work and school.
Treatment and Staff
PAR provides outpatient chemical dependency treatment for adults and adolescents. At the time of admission, all clients are given a full bio-psycho-social assessment to determine the level of care needed as well as the presence of any other mental health concerns. Full neuro-psychological evaluations are also available that give a comprehensive assessment of the client’s cognitive and intellectual abilities as well as personality characteristics. This type of assessment pinpoints any existing disorders as well as recommended medications and educational needs. While there are no detox services at PAR, medication management is available as are referrals to outside facilities.
Substance abuse treatment at PAR includes group and individual therapy that incorporates CBT and DBT. Group sessions focus on psycho-education, processing and relapse prevention. Psycho-education groups focus on the role addiction has on the brain and the effects that active addiction have over time. If requested, the client’s primary therapist may recommend family therapy to work though generational patterns that are identified during the initial evaluations. Dual diagnosis support is available for clients who have co-occurring disorders. Therapists utilize a wide range of resources including biofeedback and behavioral modification. All services are individualized to the client that their immediate needs at the time of evaluation.
The length of treatment is dependent on the client’s progress. The substance abuse program is an individualized treatment approach that is tailored to the client. Services are available during business hours Monday through Friday and may be scheduled in the evenings if needed.
A team of Psychologists, Psychotherapists, LCSWs, CSWs, LPCs and Psychometricians provide therapy and assessments. In addition to these evidence-based practices, therapists may recommend support groups including 12-step meetings to support the client’s recovery. Both PAR facilities also have close relationships with local university hospitals and treatment resources for clients and their families.
Extras
PAR is well recognized for their assessment abilities beyond the scope of substance abuse treatment. In addition to neurological and psychological assessments, staff offer ADHD, Vocational and Learning Disability evaluations. Assessments typically take three to five hours and give families and the client an accurate diagnosis and suggested course of treatment.
Staff members are also qualified to work with individuals who have traumatic brain injuries and mental disabilities that impede their abilities to work or integrate socially.
