The Basics
Located in Beaufort County, North Carolina, Pamlico Counseling Center has provided mental health services since 1994. Four Master’s-level therapists provide assistance and care for individuals seeking substance abuse treatment and other mental health concerns. Individuals strengthen their communication skills, self-esteem and positive behavior through evidence-based treatment on an outpatient level.
Treatment and Staff
Clients are initially assessed to ensure that PCC offers the right intensity of care. If a client requires detox, they are referred to an outside facility. For clients with additional concerns including co-occurring disorders, PCC provides dual diagnosis support. This basic outpatient treatment is designed for individuals who do not require intensive monitoring.
Clients develop an individualized treatment plan with their counselor and may attend therapeutic activities as often as three times per week according to their unique schedule. Morning and evening hours are available.
PCC treats the whole individual with a holistic treatment approach. Group and individual therapy as well as family therapy is available. Groups focus on strengthening recovery skills including relapse prevention, problem solving, anger management and psycho-education. One-on-one sessions are facilitated as often as once per week for clients, with some clients only attending once per month. Counselors utilize a wide range of therapeutic techniques that typically fall under the Matrix Model. CBT and DBT techniques are also used emphasizing relapse prevention and 12-step principles.
Care is coordinated by a treatment team that respects the belief systems and background of each individual. Additionally, PCC works with clients to make sure they have an opportunity to access community resources. Staff at PCC includes LPCs, LMFTs and LCSWs.

Through individual, group, family and couples counseling, Master’s-level therapists facilitate all treatment activities ensuring that the whole person is treated, rather than just the disease.
