Since 1972, Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health has offered affordable, comprehensive substance abuse treatment and mental health care to its community. Now with six locations throughout the state, it provides evidence-based outpatient treatment using individual and group therapy, medication management and psychoeducation. Programs are offered to clients of all ages from experienced therapists in a caring environment.

Treatment and Staff

Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health offers two levels of outpatient treatment: an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a standard outpatient track on a step-down basis. Clients undergo an assessment that evaluates both their psychiatric and addiction condition. From there, an individualized program is developed, with no set amount of time that the client has to commit to the program. Goals set the beginning of treatment are revisited weekly to monitor progress and to reassess, if necessary.

Clients in the IOP attend two to three, three-hour group sessions a week, offered in both day and evening hours. Topics include addiction education, relapse prevention, parenting classes and coping skills. Individual therapy commences once a week and uses CBTDBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR for trauma work.

Its comprehensive psychiatric services include an evaluation and diagnosis for clients struggling with co-occurring disorders, with the option of medication management.

After an initial four-week period, clients may opt to step down to standard outpatient care, which consists of group therapy once a week for 90 minutes. Clients may also continue with weekly individual sessions if requested.

Staff consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, CSACs MFTs, LSWs  and case workers.
