Treatment and Staff
While many incoming clients have been referred from outside residential and detox programs, NYSNI also accept self-referred clients and is able to help them apply for Medicaid if they do not have insurance. The intake process involves meeting with case managers and counselors so that an individualized treatment plan can be created.
Treatment consists of group and individual therapy that employs CBT, as well as a variety of groups offered throughout the day that address addiction education, peer sharing, anger management and relapse prevention. Groups last approximately one hour and have no more than 15 clients. NYSNI also offers a special group that focuses on opioid dependency issues. Individual sessions are scheduled as needed. The exact length and intensity of treatment is based on counselor assessment.
Clients with a dual diagnosis are given additional mental health counseling overseen by the staff psychiatrist.
NYSNI does not have an official aftercare program but clients who have completed their treatment plan often step down to attending group meetings once a week and then once every other week. Clients are also assisted with finding and securing sober housing as well as vocational training.
New York Service Network Inc has an impressive staff for a facility of its size. Its combination of evidenced-based practices and focused groups makes for a comprehensive treatment program with flexible scheduling so that clients can maintain personal and professional responsibilities while in treatment. In all, New York Service Network is solid resource for those in the area.
