The Basics
Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services is a non-profit mental and behavioral healthcare organization that has served the Central Nebraska communities since 1971. Located in Grand Island, an hour and a half outside of Lincoln, substance abuse treatment is limited to basic outpatient care but offers support for clients with dual diagnosis.
Treatment and Staff
Before enrollment in treatment, clients must first go through an initial two-hour therapy session that consists of an evaluation and assessment. This first session helps counselors create an individualized treatment plan with the client which dictates the immediate issues clients face, the forms of therapies most beneficial to their unique needs and the duration of treatment. Each unique recovery track also dictates how many hours of therapy the client should attend per week and adjustments are made to requirements as each client progresses through the program.
Treatment consists of group and individual therapy as well as family therapy if desired. Individual and family sessions are scheduled depending on the availability of the client and the counselor. Group therapy is held at various times throughout the week and clients attend as their schedule permits and treatment plan require. The forms of therapy implemented in sessions vary depending on each individual client but typically include DBT, CBT, trauma-focused and dual-diagnosis care. The 12-steps are not integrated into the program.
The staff at MPC consists of LPCs, LMHCs and CADCs.
Extras
In addition to substance abuse treatment programs, MPC also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral and mental health problems as well as community oriented services. Child and family therapy, problem sexual behavior therapy, crisis stabilization services, foster care services, youth crisis services, multi-systemic therapy and medical management services.
