The Basics
The women’s only outpatient program offered through Magnolia Creek focuses on treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders and co-occurring disorders. The facility just outside of Birmingham, Alabama and offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that is individualized to the clients needs.
Treatment and Staff
The PHP offers an intensive treatment protocol that can run for up to a year, depending in the client’s needs. Designed for women coming out of a residential program or in a sober living facility, programs vary day by day. The facility is available from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm daily, and clients can participate in group or individual sessions as much as eight hours per day or as little as three hours for three days a week. There are group therapy sessions offered seven days a week that focus on health, nutrition and relapse prevention and serve meals and snacks.
The treatment modalities are evidence-based and holistic, including CBT, DBT, art and music therapy, the 12-steps, meditation, yoga and psychoeducation. There are classes offered on a daily basis and one on one therapy sessions weekly that serve as a way to check in with the client’s progress, if needed. Exercise and journaling are incorporated in the programs and the clients devise an aftercare plan with their therapist. The staff at Magnolia Creek includes Master Level therapists and clinicians, including LCSWs and MFT, as well as medical doctors and nurses.
Extras
Magnolia Creek invites the client’s families to participate in treatment along with their loved ones. There is an intensive family workshop where the family members and clients participate in group and individual therapy and classes together. This program is a three-day event. For those who don’t reside close to the facility, there are online and over the phone sessions offered.

Magnolia Creek is a unique treatment facility in that it emphasizes the importance of physical health in conjunction with mental health. With the focus being primarily on eating disorders that include addiction there is an opportunity for clients to learn more about the root of their disorders and explore ways to heal while getting stronger in every way possible.
