The Basics
Lansing Psychological Associates in East Lansing, Michigan is an outpatient treatment facility providing evidence based individual therapy tailored to fit each client’s schedule and unique needs. LPA is a CARF-accredited facility that has been treating substance abuse since 1976 as well as providing comprehensive behavioral health care for adult men and women.
Treatment and Staff
Prospective clients begin the intake process online prior to coming in for an initial assessment. LPA treatment utilizes weekly one-on-one therapy sessions for about an hour, though clients may decide with their therapists to reduce their time commitment as treatment progresses. All counseling is individualized and treatment varies on a case-by-case basis with a maximum of two sessions per week.
Treatment modalities are evidence based and vary depending on what would best serve each participant. Therapists use CBT, DBT, EMDR, behavioral modification and solution-focused methods. LPA also works with other agencies to provide clients with alternative forms of therapy which may include hypnosis or spiritually-based options. Those entering treatment may also be provided medication management services when necessary.
The staff at LPA consists of a combination of Master’s-level LCSWs, LMFTs, medical doctors, psychologists and psychiatrists.
Extras
Aside from its outpatient options for adults, LPA also extends psychiatric services to children and adolescents. Additional therapy tracks are available including couples and family therapy—the latter may also include parenting skills classes. LPA also has a host of bilingual therapists to support Spanish-speaking clientele.
In Summary
While treatment at Lansing Psychological Associates is limited to individual therapy, treatment is strongly focused on the individual and spans a wide range of evidence based modalities. Therapists and clients work together to set attainable goals that make sobriety achievable. While those in need of a more intensive program may need an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Lansing Psychological Associates is a solid resource for flexible outpatient care.
