Mukilteo WashingtonThe Basics

Based in Mukilteo, Washington, the The Juanita Center is a state-certified chemical dependency treatment center. Providing individualized and personalized outpatient care, The Juanita Center is located about an hour north of Seattle, on the Pacific coast.

Treatment and Staff

Drug and alcohol evaluations determine the best selection of treatment modalities, and help create individualized treatment plans. Suboxone counseling is available to those with opiate addiction, though dosing is not offered. Additionally, clients can be subject to random drug testing if required by employers or government entities. Treatment length varies, as does the particular approach and use of treatment modalities, which include CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Each client works with a LADC, who acts as a mentor, teacher and motivational coach. Their goal is to identify the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that have led to substance abuse and dysfunctional lifestyles. Referrals are also offered to those that require more intensive treatment.

In individual therapy sessions, clients discuss and work on personal issues in an intimate setting, while identifying and working toward goals. In group therapy, clients benefit from hearing the experience of others in similar situations, helping build empathy, community and lessen feelings of shame and isolation. The goal of all therapy is to work through interpersonal conflict, anger, fear and stress, while learning new life skills and behaviors that help communication and lead to more peaceful living.

Healthy relationships and self-esteem are encouraged, with codependency and unhealthy attachment models addressed. Grief, loss and PTSD are all treated with compassion and targeted therapy. Relapse prevention techniques are taught with the aim of minimizing the risk of relapse, and help clients identify warning signs that may lead there. Overall, these sessions battle a sense of hopelessness and helplessness that plague many addicts, bringing autonomy and hope to their lives.

The DUI assessment consists of an individual session with a licensed therapist, lasting one to two hours. After this evaluation, the therapist will determine a course of treatment that best suits the client. This evaluation meets all requirements by the State of Washington for DUI-related services.

All sessions are offered by appointment only, Mondays to Fridays, with limited availability on weekends. A nationally licensed alcohol and drug counselor performs all services.

Extras

Early intervention and education services consist of lectures, informal counseling sessions and literature dispersion. This service is available to any who feel they or a loved one may be at risk of substance abuse. Family support services include education and counseling, providing help for those affected by substance abuse.

In Summary

The Juanita Center provides counseling services for clients and families of those struggling with substance abuse, from the early stages, through to regular treatment. With services focused on underlying causes, clients are sure to find personalized treatment, not lost in a crowd as they might be at larger centers. The programs are offered across a range of fee options, and are suitable for those looking for targeted care.
