The Basics
Located about an hour northwest of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Jemez Health and Human Services (JHHS) is a comprehensive resource for the tribal members of the closed village of Pueblo of Jemez. The department of Behavioral Health Program of JHHS offers outpatient substance abuse and dual diagnosis treatment to residents of the Jemez Pueblo and other eligible Native American clients.
Treatment and Staff
Incoming clients are thoroughly evaluated to develop an individualized treatment plan. This plan dictates the types of therapies and the frequency of sessions per week. This plan is subject to change throughout the course of the program, as is the length of the program itself, depending on the progress of the individual. All plans include CBT based individual and group therapy as well as addiction education. Individual sessions are scheduled between client and counselor, while group sessions are held at various times throughout the week. The staff at JHHS also works closely with local probation offices and drug courts for those clients who require legal assistance and other services. JHHS also offers a strong referral system for those seeking additional care, whether it’s inpatient treatment or a local 12-step program to aid them during their path to recovery. The staff at JHHS consists of physicians, RNs, LSWs and LCDCs.

In addition to the substance abuse treatment program, the Jemez Health and Human Services also provides a variety of other services to clients and tribal members. Mental health counseling, community wellness programs, injury prevention and education services, medical social work, public health, social services, senior services and transportation services are some of the other offerings one can find from this organization.
