Family Recovery Specialists Review
Family Recovery Services (FRS) was founded in 2011 to provide mental health and substance abuse counseling services in Miami, Florida. Located in the Sunset area, near Olympia Heights, FRS has an experienced, multi-disciplinary treatment team that provides comprehensive dual diagnosis support. FRS offers outpatient treatment at the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) level of care and also provides interventions, recovery coaching and treatment services in Spanish.
Treatment and Staff
Upon entering treatment, clients receive a full bio-psycho-social assessment and are given a treatment plan that includes group, individual and family therapy. Most clients attend group therapy Monday through Thursday from 6 to 8:30 pm and have individual and family therapy once a week. The duration of treatment is usually two months.
Treatment uses DBT and CBT to help clients create self-awareness, handle triggers and develop relationship skills. Clients are encouraged to attend 12-step or other peer support meetings throughout treatment. FRS hosts a weekly SMART Recovery meeting each Friday evening. In addition, FRS has counselors certified in The Daring Way, a recovery program based on Dr. Brene Brown’s shame-reduction curriculum. The Daring Way “teaches men and women about the myths associated with shame and the ways we ‘armor up’ to avoid feeling ashamed.”
The treatment team includes Master’s-level therapists and addiction counselors, including CAPs, LMHCs and ICADCs. Clients needing medication management for mental health diagnoses can schedule appointments with FRS’s addiction psychiatrist.
Extras
Clients’ loved ones can attend a weekly family group Tuesdays at 6 pm for support and education. For aftercare, FRS offers a weekly continuing care group on Thursday evenings, which clients can attend for three months after they’ve completed the IOP.
FRS’s interventionists have training in the Johnson, Family Systemic and ARISE methods. FRS also provides mental health counseling and treatment for adolescents.
