Based in Pasadena, California, interventionist Dan Cronin is the owner of Cronin Consulting and AIR Alternatives, which provide intervention, alternative sentencing and case management for alcoholics, addicts and their families. The Background
Cronin Consulting was founded in 1985 after Cronin turned his life around. A former heroin addict, alcoholic and cancer survivor who once even survived an airplane crash, Cronin has also worked in several treatment centers in southern California. He often talks about his own experiences when he works with clients, with the hopes that they will identify and seek help.
The Approach
Cronin and his team of intervention specialists work quickly, and analyze a treatment plan will provide the most efficient and feasible solution. First, he ensures the safety of the client. He also offers a motivational approach to an intervention by working closely with the client, discussing his own personal experiences and being open about the process of recovery. This approach is designed to make clients feel like they are making an informed decision about their own treatment. He believes in building a strong support system for the client, so that they will accept that they need help.
Cronin offers referrals to detox and/or residential treatment facilities. Cronin Consulting maintains close relationships with various drug rehabs including Michael’s House in Palm Springs, California. Additionally, they try to find the best fit for clients, which include making choices between a 12-step or non-12-based program, as well as deciding between an inpatient or outpatient drug rehab.
