allentown pennsylvaniaConfront Program Review

Located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Confront Program offered by Treatment Trends, Inc. offers substance abuse services to adults and adolescents. This outpatient program offers individualized care to meet each person’s needs. Services include assessments, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and general outpatient. Using the 12 steps and evidence based therapies, clients are put on a path of sobriety. Adult services are offered on a sliding scale and adolescent services are free.

Treatment and Staff

Confront Program provides structured outpatient options for substance abuse and mental health issues, as well as individual and group therapy for both adults and adolescents. Prior to beginning treatment, each client must undergo an initial assessment. A mixture of the 12 steps and evidence based therapies make up the treatment approach. Detox is not available, but referrals can be provided if necessary.

Those in IOP meets three times a week for three hours, though how many weeks varies by client. Group topics focus on addiction awareness, relapse prevention, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), conflict resolution, processing, trauma and co-occurring disordersAt least one hour-long individual therapy session takes place per week as well. Evidence-based therapies including CBT and DBT are also used. The 12 steps are introduced in both programs and clients are encouraged to attend meetings and get a AA or NA sponsor. Still, this is not required.

The traditional outpatient track meets once a week for three hours at a time. The structure here is similar to IOP, emphasizing a greater focus on sustaining sobriety. The length of time spent in this program depends on each individual’s needs. In addition to structured outpatient programs, clients have access to individual therapy. Each of these sessions runs for an hour, and support for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can be addressed in these meetings. Individual therapy can be done as its own form of treatment, though it usually coincides with a structured program.

The staff at Confront Program consists of Master’s level therapists, social workers and LADCs. Group sizes range from 10-15 at a time.

Assessments are available in English and Spanish. Additional services include parenting groups as well as basic life skills training such as budgeting, resume preparation, employment interviewing and vocational skills. Daily yoga class is also available on-site.
