Warrenberg MissouriCompass Health Network: Pathways Community Health Review

The Compass Health Network is a non-profit organization that provides affordable services for individuals and their families in Warrensburg, Missouri. In addition to basic medical care, CHN also offers substance abuse treatment for adults and adolescents through Pathways Community Health. Since the early 1990s, CHN has provided substance abuse services as well as mental health for the surrounding communities. Outpatient and inpatient treatment are available at various branches through the CHN network of facilities.

Treatment and Staff

CHN has a comprehensive and collaborative approach to substance abuse treatment. Prior to treatment, clients are assessed by intake counselors to ensure that CHN offers an appropriate level of treatment for their needs. Clients with co-occurring disorders are further assessed and provided dual diagnosis support and medication management as well as specialized groups and sessions with a staff Psychiatrist. Clients regularly meet with their case manager to review their individualized treatment plan that is adjusted as they progress through treatment.

The adult outpatient track is called the Early Intervention Program and is divided into three levels of care. The first level, the Brief Intervention sub-track, is a four-week program that meets once per week. Treatment at this level is limited to individual therapy with four sessions scheduled (more may be scheduled as needed). The second level, or Alcohol and Drug Awareness sub-track is a five-week program that focuses on psycho-education. Clients attend a total of 10 hours of group therapy and education courses. Clients may schedule additional groups if needed. The third level is the Choices Program, an eight-week track focused on more intensive treatment. Clients attend two individual therapy sessions, 16 hours of group education and are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings for additional support. Clients may continue treatment in groups and individual sessions for as long as they wish.

The adolescent outpatient track is Navig8, a program that works with young people and their families to facilitate recovery. Clients between the ages of 12 and 17 are assessed by the treatment team then work with therapists and their families both on-site and in the home. Treatment occurs in conjunction with the client’s school, helping young people stay current with their studies. Group, individual and family therapy is facilitated with evidence-based practices in mind.

Both the adolescent and adults tracks are facilitated by mental health professionals who specialize in dual-diagnosis care. Credentials include CADCs, Psychiatrists, LPCs, MFTs and PhDs.

Extras

Families and couples may access special counseling through the adolescent and adult outpatient programs at Pathways. Because the facilities are connected to a comprehensive network of services, clients may additionally access medical, dental and general health care through Compass Health.

Also if clients or their families believe residential treatment is a more appropriate level of care, treatment plans are adjusted or referrals offered to fit their needs.

In Summary

The Pathways Community Health outpatient substance abuse programs provide comprehensive services for adults and adolescents. All tracks are tailored to the individual and give clients access to additional services for dual-diagnosis disorders, general and mental health. Due to non-profit funding and community resources, clients can access affordable care and finish programs regardless of their ability to pay. Through group, individual and family therapy, each client can begin their journey towards recovery and develop a reliable foundation to begin again.
