Carolina Performance Review
Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, Carolina Performance offers high quality therapy for mental health and substance abuse issues. This program is named for its goal of enhancing the everyday performance of their clients, improving their work life and general well being. Although most of the clients here are non-athletes, there are sports psychologists on staff to treat teams when needed. Treatment is typically conducted on a one-on-one basis, with support for co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Carolina Performance mainly offers individual, marriage and family therapy. Prior to beginning treatment, each person must undergo an initial bio-psycho-social evaluation. After this, an individualized treatment plan can be created. Using evidence-based therapies, clients are able to recognize their negative behaviors and thought patterns. Referrals for detox and residential are available upon request.
Individual sessions each last between 30 to 50 minutes. Support for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can be addressed during these sessions. In one-on-one therapy, clients can focus on the relapse prevention, problem solving and coping skills. Evidence based therapies such as CBT and DBT are used frequently. Clients can also discuss the 12 steps with their therapists if they wish, though participation in NA or AA is not a required part of the program.
For those seeking help for mental health issues, highly trained psychiatrists are available to provide talk therapy and medication management services. In all, the treatment team consists of seven psychiatrists, three psychologists, an LPC and a life coach.
Extras
For those with children, Carolina Performance also has the AIHF Youth Activity Center to provide free childcare while clients are receiving services. Psychological assessments For ADHD are available for those ages 13 and older. The facility also works in a group setting for sports teams and businesses and offers both life and business coaching.

Overall, Carolina Performance uses an individualized approach to tackling chemical dependency issues. Through supportive one-on-one therapy sessions, clients can can receive the exact care they need to thrive in sobriety. While the program has a slightly different focus than some other rehabs, Carolina Performance still offers a variety of tools to help clients thrive.
