BryLin Behavioral Health Center Review
Established in 1955, BryLin Hospitals was the first licensed private psychiatric hospital in Western New York. In 1998, BryLin Behavioral Health Center opened in Williamsville, New York. This outpatient facility provides substance abuse treatment for adults and adolescents, with treatment options that include both individual and group therapy. Support for co-occurring disorders is also available, as are free weekly family groups.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake at BryLin, each client must undergo an initial evaluation which includes two to three individual sessions with a counselor. If it is determined that the program would be a good fit for a given client, a personalized treatment plan is created. While there is no on-site detox available, referrals are made whenever necessary.
Because each client receives an individualized care plan, treatment can include either group or individual therapy or both. There are also special groups offered covering topics such as early recovery, relapse prevention, young adult issues, meditation and relaxation, co-occurring disorders, professional issues and gender-specific concerns. Clients typically attend groups twice a week. Individual sessions are each an hour long and typically take place every other a week. Evidence based therapies such as CBT and DBT are used frequently.
Support for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can be addressed during individual therapy sessions. A weekly free family group is offered every Monday, and includes topics such as codependency and healthy communication.
The staff consists of LADCs, with group sizes that range from eight to 10 people at a time.
Extras
For those in need of treatment or assistance with a DUI, BryLin offers an impaired driver’s program which includes clinical screenings and assessments when necessary. Psychiatric help is available as well through a separate mental heath program, as are holistic therapies such as yoga, massage and Tai Chi.
