Located in Spokane, Washington, Breakthrough Recovery Group is a treatment organization specializing in treatment of substance abuse disorders. The facility was founded and is managed by two professional addictions specialists who guide clients towards a better understanding of addiction and mental health.
Breakthrough Recovery is an outpatient program offering medication-assisted treatment, DUI treatment, family programming and education services. All clients are provided with an individualized treatment plan that implements evidence-based treatment through individual and group therapy with a recovery plan tailored to meet their needs and schedules.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission into any program at BRG, all clients must be assessed to determine the level of care they require. All assessments are performed by a licensed mental health professional. Once an accurate assessment is taken, the client is enrolled in the ideal program. For clients requiring Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), BRG offers a Suboxone program that includes prescription and therapy combined. Clients in the Suboxone program attend group therapy three times per week and one individual therapy session per month. Clients are assessed for nutritional status, mental health status and are drug tested regularly to ensure abstinence.
The basic outpatient program at BRG is offered for adults and adolescents who do not need intensive treatment. Clients are seen at least once per week attending both group and individual therapy. Gender-specific groups for men and women and specialized groups for adolescents are available so that clients may feel comfortable sharing and participating in an appropriate peer-group.
Group therapy includes psychoeducation, stress management and relapse prevention techniques. Therapists utilize a combination of counseling and coaching with CBT and DBT techniques. The basic outpatient program may last anywhere from 30 days to six months depending on a client’s needs and their progress through the program.
For clients requiring more intensive treatment, BRG offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The IOP track requires attendance of group therapy three times per week and at least one individual therapy session per month. Family counseling and education is also offered in an effort to improve the home environment making it more conducive to recovery.
Clients in the IOP are also required to attend 12-step groups to create a solid external support system. BRG also works with clients to provide vocational services so that they may be ready to re-enter the workforce after treatment is complete. Typically, the IOP lasts for four weeks, but clients who require additional support are encouraged to step down to the outpatient program afterwards for continued treatment.
In addition, BRG offers specialized dual-diagnosis support groups that focus on the unique concerns that individuals with co-occurring disorders face. This track also includes medication management and relapse prevention.
All groups and individual therapy sessions are conducted by CADCs, LCSWs and LPCs. All staff members have specialized certifications qualifying them to work with people with addictions and have extensive treatment experience through private practice.
Extras
BRG offers a family program that meets often to help create a strong and healthy family unit. Counselors focus on psychoeducation and teach skills to help support their loved one in recovery. Families are encouraged to attend Alanon, Alateen, Nar-Anon, Adult Children of Alcoholics and Codependents Anonymous meetings.
A DUI program is offered for clients with court mandated treatment needs. Evaluations, counseling and education groups are available to fulfill state required treatment needs. Counselors utilize intervention-based counseling techniques helping clients to understand the seriousness of repeat DUIs and the effects on the client themselves and the community.
