Treatment and Staff
Blue Ridge offers individual, couples and family therapy for those struggling with addiction. Prior to entering therapy, clients must undergo a bio-psycho-social evaluation. Referrals to detox and residential can be made if necessary.
As mentioned, substance abuse treatment is offered only through one-on-one sessions, though treatment plans are individualized after intake. This includes the identification of problem areas, goals for behavior change and the application of therapy methods. Individual counseling usually occurs once a week for an hour. Evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT are used. When it comes to the 12 steps, clients are welcome to attend meetings during their free time although they are not required. Those who wish to discuss the steps with their therapist during individual therapy can do so as well.
Couples and family therapy are also available. Through these sessions, issues around communication, codependency and heathy boundaries can be discussed. For those with co-occurring mental health issues, the facility offers psychiatric consultations and medication management services through a partnership with GA Telehealth. Those in need of a program with more comprehensive dual diagnosis support may need to seek help elsewhere.
The staff includes psychologists, consulting psychiatrists, Master’s-level therapists and CSWs.
Extras
Aside from longer term courses of treatment mentioned above, Blue Ridge also offers psychological assessments for children and adults, ADHD assessments, preoperative bariatric assessments, competency assessments, psychosexual assessments and play therapy for kids. Community education and presentations on topics such as cardiatric rehabilitation, stress reduction, behavior and emotional problems in children, foster care training and parenting skills.

By attending individual therapy sessions, clients can begin to understand the reasons underlying their substance use.
