The Basics
Associated Therapeutic Services offers a variety of outpatient treatment options in six locations across the state of Oklahoma. Its offices are located in Enid, Ponca City, Kingfisher, Hennessey, Stillwater and Medford. Treatment focuses on providing individual therapy sessions to children, adolescents and adults—with couples and family therapy also available. The team at Associated Therapeutic Services consists mainly of LADCs and LPCs who have extensive experience in dealing with substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Treatment and Staff
At ATS, individuals, couples and families seeking treatment are offered a diagnostic assessment that includes a drug and alcohol screening. Clients are then matched with counselors who help to develop individualized treatment plans wherein clients create goals for their recovery. Each plan is unique, though typically clients meet with their counselor once a week for an hour at a time. Those in need of psychiatric medication management are offered referrals when necessary.
Treatment at ATS is available to individuals as young as three years old. The certified therapists on staff have specialties in substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, LGBT issues, eating disorders, bipolar disorders, divorce, domestic violence, intimacy and sexual problems. The main techniques used in treatment are CBT and DBT, unless dealing with younger clients who lack the cognitive maturity needed to address issues through talk therapy. In those cases, a child therapist uses more age-appropriate modalities such as art therapy, sand tray therapy and role play.
In addition to therapy, parents of children receiving treatment are offered a Love and Logic parenting class. The class teaches parents how to develop effective and positive ways to discipline their children. Counselors also provide career-counseling to those in need. Although 12-step participation is not mandatory, referrals to local meetings and peer support groups can be made upon request.
The staff at ATS includes LPCs, LADCs, LCSWs and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S).
Extras
In addition to the above, the clinical director at ATS, Tanya Kennedy, offers substance abuse group therapy to court-ordered and self-referred clients. These services are offered at the Tanya Kennedy Counseling Office, where Kennedy and other ATS therapists provide group therapy through evidence-based treatment like CBT. Topics discussed include substance abuse, addiction as disease, communication skills and coping skills. Therapists also offer 12-step based discussion groups. Groups are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings for about an hour and fifteen minutes each.
