Alcohol and Chemical Abuse Consultants Review
Serving the two scenic Michigan cities of Muskegon and Grand Rapids, Alcohol and Chemical Abuse Consultants has been providing substance abuse treatment and behavioral care since 1984. Through an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP,) ACAC offers individualized treatment plans for adults, seniors, adolescents and their families.
Treatment and Staff
Clients will find the same treatment approach at both of ACAC’s locations. The IOP program consists of individual sessions held weekly, with the total length of treatment averaging 12 sessions over a four-month period.
Treatment starts with an initial assessment to help counselors and therapists form a treatment plan for the client. The one-hour assessment may include a written test and a drug and alcohol screening, after which the client will start their individual DBT sessions. Depending on the needs of the client, treatment may include pain management, assistance with co-occurring disorders and relapse prevention.
The staff at ACAC consists of a team of Master’s-level therapists and counselors, including MFTs CSWs, LPCs and CADCs.
Extras
If the client approves, their family or loved ones are invited to attend classes for co-dependency, adult children of alcoholics, as well as intervention training and coaching. ACAC clients may also benefit from either the Early Recovery program for individuals who are abusing substances, but perhaps not yet addicted.
There is also a dedicated Healthcare Professionals program designed for those working in the healthcare field who need substance abuse treatment to maintain or regain their licenses.
Additionally, ACAC offers behavioral health care for a variety of mental illnesses—depression, anxiety issues, anger management issues, PTSD, trauma recovery, sex addiction, compulsive disorders, bipolar disorders, eating disorders, incest survivors, grief issues, and ADD.
In Summary
While ACAC is not luxury rehab and does not offer inpatient care, their commitment to each client’s recovery is supported by programs that involve the whole family system.
