The Basics
White Deer Run Lewisburg offers outpatient substance abuse treatment to the residents of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, a small town 60 miles north of Harrisburg and home to Bucknell University. The Lewisburg facility offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as standard outpatient levels of care.
As a member of the White Deer Run treatment facility network, the location has served the residents of central Pennsylvania for over 10 years. White Deer Run is part of the larger Acadia treatment network, which operates facilities throughout the US and United Kingdom.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients are placed on either the standard outpatient or IOP treatment track. Standard outpatient clients attend group therapy once or twice a week for up to four hours. IOP clients attend group therapy three times each week, for up to nine hours of treatment. Clients are scheduled for individual therapy as-needed.
The duration of treatment is progress-based, and most clients attend sessions for at least two months. Clients can step down into the standard outpatient program from the IOP as their recovery progresses. Standard outpatient groups meet Mondays from 3 to 5 pm, Tuesdays from 5 to 7 pm and Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm. IOP groups meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 12 pm.
The therapeutic foundation of treatment at Lewisburg is Client-Centered Supportive Therapy. Other treatment methods include Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), CBT and the 12-step framework. Gender-specific groups for both men and women are also available each week.
IOP clients have an additional curriculum that includes psycho-educational groups that explore relationship skills, changing criminal thinking, recovery and mental health issues and building a values system. All clients are also encouraged to attend several 12-step meetings each week.
The treatment team primarily consists of CADCs. While counselors address co-occurring disorders in group and individual therapy, referrals are given to nearby mental health clinics for comprehensive dual diagnosis support.
Extras
Family therapy is available for clients whose loved ones wish to participate in the recovery process. As clients near the end of their treatment plan, they work with their primary counselor to create an aftercare plan likely to include on-going individual therapy and peer support meetings such as NA/AA or SMART Recovery. The White Deer Run treatment network regularly holds a variety of alumni gatherings throughout Pennsylvania.
