White Deer Run Erie provides outpatient substance abuse treatment in Erie, Pennsylvania, a lakeside city in the northwest corner of the state, 100 miles northeast of Cleveland, Ohio. As a member of the White Deer Run treatment facility network, the Erie facility has served the residents of Pennsylvania for over ten years.
Under the Acadia Healthcare umbrella, White Deer Run facilities are included among an expansive international group of behavioral health facilities providing chemical dependency and therapeutic support. With its headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, Acadia serves communities across the country and in the UK with residential, outpatient and school-based treatment programs.
The White Deer Run Erie facility is located near Presque Isle Bay, a few blocks from Frontier Park. It offers treatment at both the standard and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) levels.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients are enrolled in either the standard or IOP track. Standard outpatient clients attend group therapy once a week, while IOP clients attend groups two or three times each week. Clients are scheduled for individual therapy as-needed.
The average length of IOP treatment is eight to 10 weeks, and clients can step down to the standard outpatient program as they progress in their recovery. Standard outpatient groups meet Monday mornings and evenings and Friday mornings. IOP groups meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 12 pm and 5 to 8 pm.
The foundations of treatment are Client-Centered Supportive Therapy and Reality Therapy. Counselors also use the 12-step framework, REBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). The treatment team consists of CADCs and Master’s-level therapists such as MSWs. While counselors address co-occurring disorders in sessions, they refer clients to nearby mental health clinics for comprehensive dual diagnosis support.
Group therapy topics include relationships and recovery, the legal system and recovery, sober socializing and relapse prevention. Clients are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings each week.
