The Basics
TCN Behavioral Health Services is a non-profit organization that offers behavioral health and prevention services in three locations in Greene County, Ohio. TCN’s mental health and substance abuse treatment services have grown from when it was first founded 25 years ago as a community prevention program. Accredited by CARF, TCN Behavioral Health Services’ outpatient treatment offers a standard and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and adolescents.
Treatment and Staff
TCN’s outpatient program offers two levels of standard outpatient care and one level of IOP. Both levels of standard care are appropriate for clients who have experienced negative consequences with substance use. IOP program is designed for clients who have been diagnosed with substance use disorder. Length of treatment is based on the needs of the client and can range from three to 18 months.
Treatment works within the structure of individual and group therapy that uses evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, ACT and trauma- informed care. The program also offers dual diagnosis support, detox and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) via Suboxone and Vivitrol. Though TCN does not incorporate 12-step recovery into its programming, it does support clients’ 12-step work outside of treatment.
Clients are placed in various mixed gender groups of no more than 12 clients based on their individual needs. Generally IOP clients attend nine hours of group a week. Frequency varies for standard outpatient clients. All clients attend weekly individual sessions and have access to a psychiatrist.
TCN’s 185 staff members include psychiatrists, CLSWs, LPCCs, CASACs and case managers. TCN boast the largest psychiatric department in the region that includes 12 psychiatrists who are also staffed at Miami Valley Hospital.
Extras
TCN offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) to adolescents that include four hours of treatment and two hours of schooling a day for eight weeks. The New Beginnings program offers treatment to clients currently in jail. TCN’s family program includes counseling and a parenting group. Healthy living is promoted through its wellness and nutrition. Additionally, all clients have access to TCN’s full suite of behavioral health and psychiatric services and can participate in a wide array of groups that meet their specific treatment needs.
Case management services, including assistance with educational and employment opportunities and housing placement, are also offered. TCN has a robust vocational program that works with local businesses to hire clients. Walk-in clients without appointments are accepted at all three locations during morning hours.
