The Basics
Based in Milwaukee County, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is a behavioral health organization with nearly 50 locations throughout Southeast Wisconsin. Among its programs are a number of flexible substance abuse treatment options, including outpatient, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Treatment and Staff
After an initial screening and assessment, staff members develop an individualized treatment plan for each client to determine which treatment track would be best for them. Those needing a more intensive level of care may be referred to an appropriate inpatient program, if necessary.
The standard outpatient track generally meets once a week while the PHP meets four times a week and includes additional medical support. The IOP varies, with typically two group and one individual session. Therapy is rooted in evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT and the 12 steps. Therapy addresses not only addiction recovery but stress and anger management, with additional support for clients with co-occurring disorders like anxiety, depression and ADD/ADHD. Medication management is also available.
The staff of Wheaton Franciscan consists of MDs, RNs, psychologists, psychiatrists, LACs, LPCs, CADCs and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.
Extras
Additional services include family and relationship counseling, which can be added to any program.
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare also offers residential programs for addiction and mental illness. Aftercare is offered in the form of stepped-down outpatient treatment.
