The Basics

Operating primarily out of Salt Lake City and Saratoga Springs, Utah, Wendy Hoyt is a PhD-level licensed psychologist providing individualized treatment to clients struggling with eating disorders and related behavioral health issues, all on an outpatient basis. Dr. Hoyt holds Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University with more than 10 years’ experience treating ED. Before opening her private practice, Dr. Hoyt also served as the Director of the Residential Adolescent Eating Disorder Program at the River Centre Clinic as well as stints as a staff psychologist at both Avalon Hills and the Center for Change. Her current practice is open to clients ages 11 and up.

Treatment and Staff

Each client begins treatment by doing an initial meeting and consultation with Dr. Hoyt for an assessment and medical history. Because the program is outpatient only, those in need of detox or medical stabilization services should seek them out before attending. All programs are individualized and comprised of individual, group and family therapy sessions drawing upon a variety of modalities.

Though the specifics may vary, Dr. Hoyt is versed in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT, as well as other approaches including attachment theory and interpersonal therapy. In addition to therapy for eating disorders, Dr. Hoyt can also provide support for a range of co-occurring disorders including depression, OCD, women’s issues, trauma, self-harm and PTSD. Although some support for those struggling with addiction may be available, it is not a focus and referrals may be provided as necessary. To round out each care plan, Dr. Hoyt also works to coordinate her care with a multidisciplinary local team including physicians, therapists and dietitians. All treatment plans are flexible and can be made to suit any number of schedules.

Extras

In addition to the primary care options outlined above, Dr. Hoyt also specializes in equine psychotherapy as an added bonus, available to both adults and adolescents. Those who complete a primary care regimen can also work with Dr. Hoyt to develop stepped down aftercare plans as necessary.

In Summary

In all, Dr. Wendy Hoyt provides accredited, multi-faceted treatment to clients struggling with eating disorders and other behavioral health issues. All therapy regimens are individualized, with support available for tweens, adolescents and adults. Treatment modalities include both evidence-based practices as well as interpersonal and holistic approaches as necessary. Though the cost of treatment is likely to vary on insurance and program specifics, Dr. Wendy Hoyt’s outpatient services for eating disorders remain a strong resource for those in the area.
