WAVE Medically Assisted Therapy

WAVE MAT Rehab Review

WAVE Medically Assisted Therapy is an outpatient treatment facility located in scenic Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It specializes in treating opioid use disorders. Rather than endorsing an abstinence-based curriculum, the facility provides comprehensive Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). It combines FDA-approved medications with therapy. Further, WAVE offers a curriculum of care that includes a medical detox, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient services. In addition to medications for opioid disorders, the treatment team here also facilitates dual diagnosis support.

Treatment and Staff

The WAVE team believes in healing the whole client rather than merely treating symptoms. As a result, programming involves individualized recovery strategies. Before beginning treatment, clients undergo an extensive assessment. It includes a psychiatric evaluation, medical history and account of substance use. When necessary, individuals transfer immediately into an off-site medical detox program that utilizes buprenorphine to stop withdrawal symptoms while also blocking urges.

Following discharge from detox, WAVE administers Vivitrol as an injection that blocks opioid receptors in the brain for one month at a time. Consequently, clients are able to focus on recovery without having to worry about relapse. Individuals transition out of detox into either the PHP or IOP.

The PHP lasts five days a week for seven hours a day. The length of PHP depends on the needs of the individual, however generally care plans may range from two to four weeks. Upon completion, many clients step down to IOP. The IOP takes place three times a week between 6 and 9 pm. The evening schedule allows clients to participate in consistent therapy without taking off time from work or school.

WAVE fosters a bio-psycho-physical approach to care. It integrates evidence-based methods, traditional therapy, case management and medication management. Clients engage in regular group and individual sessions rooted in CBT, DBT and solution-focused therapy. It’s also worth noting, the facility provides skills training as well as employment services.

Following PHP and IOP, most clients continue with outpatient care on a weekly basis. Standard outpatient includes hour-long individual and group therapy sessions.

WAVE has a team of clinicians, therapists and physicians. Medication management and medical services are integral aspects of the treatment curriculum.

Clients begin discharge planning during their first session. WAVE factors individual goals into the personalized treatment plan. The facility assists their transition back into regular life.

In Summary

WAVE Medically Assisted Therapy is a facility in South Florida that specializes in the care of clients suffering from alcohol and opioid use disorders. It integrates the right medications, medical services, evidence-based therapies and skills training to provide a well-rounded care experience built for sustainable recovery. For anyone seeking comprehensive PHP, IOP and outpatient MAT, WAVE is an excellent option.
