Jackson OhioThe Basics

About 70 miles south of Columbus in Jackson, Ohio, Justin Oyer, a recovering addict with 13 years of sobriety, and his wife, Amy, founded Warriors 4 Christ Recovery Ministries (WFC) in 2011. WFC is a growing non-profit organization that provides Christ-centered recovery programs. The main facility, the W4C Hope Center provides addiction recovery classes, youth mentoring, assistance with intervention and detox referrals as well as the family reunification process. In 2014, Warriors 4 Christ Recovery Ministries created the Jericho House, a male-only sober living home. As the name suggests, the belief of W4C is that recovery from chemical substances can happen by finding salvation in Jesus Christ.

Accommodations and Amenities

The Jericho House accommodates no more than five men in a single-family furnished house. Three clients are lodged in singles, and two men share a double-occupancy room. Clients typically qualify for food stamp benefits, and are assisted with purchasing groceries. If residents are not eligible for food stamps, food is provided.

Additionally, community members volunteer on a monthly basis, and provide home cooked meals, as well as purchase take out food for residents. Amenities include toilet paper, soap, some personal hygiene items, paper towels and cleaning supplies. An onsite house manager lives on the premises.

Rules and Regulations

Potential residents must have completed primary care at a drug rehab or worked with W4C during an outreach ministry while incarcerated in prison or jail. W4C does not accept clients who are prescribed narcotics, mood stabilizers, or those who are on medication-assisted treatment, including Suboxone. Such clients are provided referrals to appropriate facilities.

Requirements for residents include obtaining employment within 30 days of admission, attending five weekly faith-based services, participating in Bible study, and performing household chores. Participation in 12-step meetings is allowed, but does not count toward the faith-based services requirement.

Residents are subject to random drug and alcohol screenings. The wake up time is 6 am, and curfew is 9 pm, seven days a week. There is a zero tolerance policy for those who have relapsed. The cost is $250 for the first two weeks, and $100 per week after that period.

Extras

Additional services offered by W4C include job placement support, local transportation and community outreach.

At W4C, other provided programs include Arise Hope, which offers donations of clothing and baby supplies and prayer outreach for pregnant and postpartum female addicts and ministry for incarcerated clients.

In Summary

The staff and founders at W4C care deeply about the well-being of the clients. Besides food, donations are requested to help newly arrived, unemployed residents. For those seeking Christ as their Higher Power, chances are this is the perfect milieu. Warriors 4 Christ does not disclose its address, for the safety and privacy of clients.
