The Basics
Based in Cathlamet, Washington, Wahkiakum County Chemical Dependency Services offers a variety of outpatient substance abuse services including an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a basic outpatient track and a youth-specific program all of which incorporate traditional therapy using evidence based treatment (CBT).
Treatment and Staff
Wahkiakum County’s outpatient programs offer clients combinations of individual and group sessions. Prior to enrollment, clients begin with an initial intake assessment with a counselor. From this appointment, an individualized schedule is designed and tailored to match the client’s specific treatment needs, sobriety goals and school or work schedule. Wahkiakum County also offers dual diagnosis support for clients with co-occurring disorders, as well as medication management to those who require it.
Treatment at Wahkiakum County lasts eight weeks and provides 72 hours of treatment. Groups are scheduled three days per week for three hours per session. Groups aim to increase clients’ understanding and self-awareness. Wahkiakum County also encourages family involvement during treatment and invites relatives, significant others and close friends to attend therapy with their loved one.
Once a client completes the IOP he or she may step down into basic outpatient treatment, a program during which they are expected to attend treatment only once a week.
Wahkiakum also has a youth program for clients under the age of 18 which also combines group and individual therapy sessions for the client and their family. It also gives clients access to sober community outreach activities and diagnostic evaluations.
Wahkiakum County CDS staff includes a medical doctor, a Master’s-level therapist and Licensed Substance Abuse Counselors (LSACs).
Extras
General family counseling, as well as intervention services are also available. Wahkiakum County also specializes in court ordered DUI treatment.
