The Basics
Based in the Bronx since 1974, VIP Community Services provides various substance abuse treatment services including gender-specific inpatient programs for men and women, a program for opiate addiction and a medically supervised outpatient program that provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using methadone and Suboxone.
This New York City outpatient substance abuse treatment program aids clients who have become dependent on drugs and/or alcohol, and utilizes evidence based treatment methods including CBT in its approach.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment in the outpatient program is individualized and customized to meet each client’s unique needs. The admission process at VIP Community Services lasts three days, including the initial screening, intake and medical clearance. Clients are then assigned a primary counselor who helps determine frequency of attendance and MAT dosage. All treatment programs combine individual and group therapy, mental health support, medical assessments and follow-ups. Hourly group sessions are scheduled Monday through Saturday, all lasting one hour. Clients also schedule a weekly one-on-one session with their counselor.
The VIP Community Services program staff consists of a medical doctor, a nurse, a psychiatrist, a Master’s-level therapist and Licensed Substance Abuse Counselors (LSACs).
Extras
VIP Community Services also conducts weekly urinalysis screens on it clients to ensure their ongoing sobriety.as well as a smoking cessation program. Additional services include art therapy and community re-entry assistance. The program also provides clients with recreation and fitness options and gender specific services for women in need of support for processing trauma. Clients are also provided with daily public transportation fare to and from treatment.
