The Basics
Based in Sacramento, California, Valley Recovery Center of California provides substance abuse treatment for asdults. A full continuum of care is offered, including detox, residential, outpatient and extended care programs. It recently opened a second facility in Fresno, which exclusively offers outpatient care.
Treatment and Staff
Many clients come to the outpatient programs after completing treatment in Valley’s residential facility, but all are welcome. Treatment begins with an initial assessment and evaluation so that an individualized treatment plan can be developed. Therapy employs evidence-based practices like CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). There are also specialized sessions geared towards clients with a dual diagnosis and for those with PTSD, trauma and mood disorders.
Both Valley locations offer a Day Treatment/Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This level is designed for clients that are ready to live at home, but still need structured care. In Sacramento, the program runs Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 3 pm. In Fresno, the PHP meets seven days a week from 9 am to 4 pm.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to be the last step in the recovery continuum prior to individual outpatient appointments. At the Sacramento location, the IOP consists of three group sessions a week for three hours each, Monday through Fridays, offered in the evening in order to accommodate work, school or family commitments. In Fresno, IOP groups are available seven days a week—morning, afternoon and evening.
The staff at both locations consists of LPCs, LCSWs, and LADCs.
Extras
Valley also offers alumni services and aftercare at both locations; typically, consisting of monthly group and individual sessions.
Sober living is also offered through the Villas at Fair Oaks in Sacramento. These two-bedroom, four-bed, gender-specific apartments offer a safe and structured environment for clients to live while they continue treatment through Valley’s PHP or IOP.
