Dover OhioThe Basics

Tuscarawas County Alcohol and Addiction Program is a branch of the Tuscarawas County community public health system. Located in Dover, Ohio, the Tuscarawas County mission statement is to “serve our community for a healthier tomorrow.” As such, it is a network that focuses on both community and personal growth.

The substance abuse facility offers both an outpatient and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Tuscarawas County also works with dual diagnosis disorders through the mental health treatment program. Fees are payable on a sliding scale basis, making treatment accessible to all.

Treatment and Staff

An initial intake assessment is the first step towards enrollment into the Tuscarawas County program. Assessments average about two hours in duration and determine whether a potential client is well suited for treatment at TCAA. Those in need of detox and/or inpatient care are referred elsewhere.

The outpatient program is 12 weeks in duration meeting three days a week. If weekday hours are not compatible with a client’s schedule, there is also an eight-hour Saturday program available. All treatment combines individual and group therapy.

Enrollment in the PHP is determined on a case-by-case basis and is a more intensive version of outpatient treatment. Individual counselors determine the best schedule and intensity for each client.

Staff-to-client ratio is typically one-to-12, with all groups led by a CADC.

Extras

A wide range of community programs are available at Tuscarawas County. These include specialized groups for those with bi-polar disorders, environmental health services, a dental clinic and WIC which helps ensure women get the correct nutrition while breast-feeding.

Crisis services are available Monday through Friday giving the community access to a credentialed staff member in case of an emergency.

In Summary

Tuscarawas County Alcohol and Addiction Program is a community program that gives hope and structure to those struggling with addiction. With a sliding scale cost and flexible treatment hours, those looking for either basic outpatient or a more intensive PHP may find this facility a good fit.
