The Basics
Based out of Madison, Tennessee, TriStar Skyline Madison is a behavioral health facility that provides counseling for addiction and mental illness to residents of the Nashville-metro area. It provides individualized treatment on an inpatient and outpatient basis, with additional support for clients with co-occurring disorders. TriStar’s outpatient offerings include Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), which are open to adolescents, adults and seniors.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, client undergo an initial intake and assessment process so that staff can create a treatment plan that best suits their needs. Those in need of medically-supervised detox will be referred to the on-site program and must complete this phase before outpatient care begins. Once stabilized, clients move onto either PHP or IOP.
The PHP is designed to be a shorter-term program with the same intensity as inpatient care, meeting from nine am to 2:45 pm, Mondays through Fridays. The IOP is a more flexible and potentially longer-term option that meets Mondays through Thursdays from nine am to noon and two to five pm. Treatment in both programs is made up of individual, group and family therapy using evidence-based methods including CBT and DBT. Additional psychiatric support, monitoring and medication management is provided to clients with a dual diagnosis.
Apart from the core treatment curriculum, TriStar Skyline offers what they call a “treatment mall,” where clients choose from a variety of skill-based classes to add to their program. These may include sessions for physical exercise, developing coping skills, learning problem-solving techniques and stress management. While 12-step attendance is not always required, clients can get referrals to local meetings upon request. Staff is multidisciplinary and consists of psychiatrists, MDs, MFTs, RNs, recreational therapists and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Additional services include mental health counseling for senior citizens, including support for Alzheimer’s, dementia and neurological disorders. The organization also offers inpatient programs for those in need of more intensive care.

Treatment is evidence-based and combined with several supplemental options for whole-person recovery. Because of its medical staff, programs may skew slightly higher in price than some of its competitors, however, its well-trained staff is also equipped to handle a wide-range of addiction and mental health-related issues, making TriStar Skyline Madison Outpatient definitely worth consideration for those in the area.
