The Journey to Hope, Health and Healing Review
The Journey is an outpatient treatment facility with four location in Rhode Island. This full service program offers a variety of treatment options, including individualized treatment tracks, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and therapy for the client and their families. This program is CARF Accredited and provide their clients with comprehensive, customized services for as long as they need care.
Treatment and Staff
The initial step to receiving treatment at any of the Journey locations requires and over the phone interview. If this facility is a good fit, admission protocol has clients have a full physical with blood work, followed by a biopsychosocial evaluation. This assessment determines whether there are services that are suited for each client. If it is discovered that a potential client needs inpatient care or another type of service, the staff offers referrals to outside agencies in the area.
MAT at Journey consists of Methadone, Suboxone and Vivitrol. Clients have to be in a state of withdrawal before receiving their initial dose, and are then put on a regular dosing schedule. Since Journey is a medical clinic that offers MAT, there are opportunities for visitors who are not regular clients of this program to receive their medication, provided they have their current providers information on hand.
This program does not have a set amount of time that clients are expected to remain in treatment. Clients are encouraged to stay with the program for as long as they can, as the greatest results have come from extended stays in treatment.
Other elements to this program include an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that is comprised of up to nine hours of treatment per week. This is mainly group therapy-based, with one one-hour therapy session, weekly. Clients also receive case management support, and integrated healthcare. Case management assists clients in securing housing, jobs and other non-medical needs.
Therapeutic approaches include CBT and DBT. There are also a number of support and educational aspects to treatment at this facility. This includes referrals to community AA and NA meetings, substance abuse guides for parents and partners of addicts, and family support options.
Staff members are Board certified doctors, LPC, RN’s, LPN’s, and LCSW.

Family and couples counseling is offered during treatment.
